The web, without the weight.
A browser written in Rust that renders pages with the engine already built into your computer. Ads and trackers stopped from the very first page. No account to create.
macOS 11 or later · Windows 10 and 11
Three reasons to switch browsers tonight.
6.6 MB
Light
No bundled engine: Feather uses the one in your system and puts the tabs you're no longer looking at to sleep.
0 setup
Quiet
Ads, trackers, cookie banners and pop-up ad tabs are stopped as soon as it's installed.
0 account
Yours
Bookmarks, passwords and settings stay on your computer. Nobody else has the key.
The shield
It works while you read.
Feather blocks ads and trackers with the EasyList, EasyPrivacy and Liste FR lists, declines cookie banners for you and scrambles your computer's fingerprint. Click “Protected” to see what was stopped on the page. The log keeps 30 days of site names, never the addresses of the pages you read.
Example
Your data
Nothing comes back to us. Nothing.
Feather has no server waiting for you. What you do in your browser stays on your computer, and nowhere else.
0
accounts to create
Feather opens and works right away. No email address, no username.
0
usage data sent
No usage metrics, no automatic reports. Even after a crash, the log stays with you.
0
history shared
History, bookmarks and passwords stay in a folder on your computer. Passwords are encrypted.
0
ads
Feather sells nothing about you and shows no ads. It even blocks the ones on websites.
Feather only connects to check for its updates and blocklists, and for the services you use: suggestions as you type (you can turn them off in Settings), translation, extensions. Every connection, in detail.
Your way
On top. On the side. However you like.
Switch layouts at any time, drag your buttons wherever you want them, and sort your sites into spaces. Two pages side by side? Split view has you covered.
Everything you expect from a browser.
Sleeping tabs
Hidden tabs give back their memory after 15 minutes, except those playing sound or with a form in progress. Hover over them and they wake up.
Chrome extensions Experimental
Install them from the Chrome Web Store with “Add to Feather”. Still being polished: some extensions don't fully work yet. On Mac, macOS 15.4 or later is required.
On-device translation
A page in another language is translated on your computer. The text is never sent to a server.
Passwords
An encrypted vault whose key is kept by your system, a strong password suggested when you sign up, and import from other browsers.
Split view and windows
Two pages side by side in one tab, as many windows as you like, and private tabs.
Reading and tools
Reader mode, picture-in-picture, page capture, and commands in the address bar: /calcul (calculate), /convertir (convert), /minuteur (timer).
